Cheating Moon

Look
The Darkness
Bleeds into shifting
Columns of the night.
The stars struggle a
Glimmer of hope.
Scattered, that too.

You see,
Twilight
Is a thing of the past.
The soul no longer scavenges
Through the dying
Embers of the day.
Fading,
That too.

Shadows leave their
Sullen corpses as
Vaulting eyes leap
Out for a final glimpse.

The fickle moon is
Weeping.
Fogged eyes
Reveal the Gemini Plight.

It was never the moon
But the clouds that
Changed their mind.

Divine.

The ordinary sounds of
Banter
Linger long
Through the laconic gates of
My Silence.

This corridor was never lit.
Still I chased after the light.

Slapping footsteps
Catch up with home.
A cave, a hut, a mansion
In time the odds all
Conform.

This visual wasn’t culled
By me.

Look
From cobbled stones to
Coal.
From oblivion to Gold.

The churning
The murmur
The yellow
Lit
Light.

Ignite
Old longings
Unburdening.

Look

The silhouette
Leaves.
A timed vision
conceived.

So the
Stars
All cheer atwinkle.

As a firefly is born.
